This article is based on research conducted during “The school of independent thinking”, in which pupils at the three levels of education participated. In this study,students presented an interpretation of a poem by Jan Twardowski “Justice”. Qualitative analysis of essays was made to reflect an impression of the world of values and personal experiences which students referred to. The article consists of four parts – the first three are related to the various stages of education (primary, lower secondary and upper secondary). The final section discusses two categories which often appeared in student interpretations in more detail: love and material values.
